Things to do in Brattleboro

Kayaking by Grafton Village Cheese in Brattleboro, Vermont Imagine this: It's 90-95*F outside, humid and a Saturday. You have guests from Minnesota and you're not sure what to do with them.  Sure, you could enjoy some Cheddar Fondue without turning on the stove top - but that would make you warm inside and out. You could even have an ice cream cone, which I highly recommend.

I think the best idea was to stop by our Grafton Village Cheese shop in Brattleboro. It's air-conditioned, has samples and my guests got to watch cheese being made.  Fortunately, I do this on a regular basis and had another idea in mind. My husband and I got out the kayaks and took them to the Retreat pond, just off of the West River. It's across the road from the cheese shop and is a perfect spot for canoeing, kayaking, etc. In fact, you can see the cheese shop and Retreat Farm in the background of this photo!

If you're planning to take a summer trip to Vermont and it gets a little hot outside  - you know what to do.
